In this first Sunday after Easter, we hear of the story of Thomas and his doubts that Jesus is resurrected. Like Thomas, we too have doubts, especially in times of challenge. But, assured Pastor Chris, "Jesus, the Resurrected One, can meet us where we are in the midst of those difficult life experiences, and he shows himself" to us. The bottom line? "When our hearts are broken open," continued Pastor Chris, "there is a pathway for Jesus to come. Open yourself. Call upon him. Jesus will come. The gift will come." "God has built into the earth the very reminder of Easter: the truth and the power of the resurrection is all around us," Pastor Chris proclaimed on Easter. "Following the dead of winter, new life springs from the earth against all odds. What once was buried comes to life again.” Listen to the full Easter message here: http://bit.ly/2ZtoBBq

This is the night! This is our Passover with Christ from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom, from death to life. Tonight is the heart of our celebration of the Three Days and the pinnacle of the church's year. The resurrection of Christ is proclaimed in word and sign, and we gather around a pillar of fire, hear ancient stories of our faith, and share the food and drink of the promised land. Raised with Christ, we go forth into the world, aflame with the good news of the resurrection. Please join us for Easter Vigil worship this evening at 7:00 pm.
"If the voice... could reach up to you, O my Father, To be heard... kneeling before You: A prayer. If you have chosen me to teach your laws On Earth, I would know how to serve you, great King of kings. O Light! On my lips, Lord, place the salutary Truth, So that those who doubt, with humility will revere you. Do not abandon me, but give me the Grace necessary to overcome evils, and to relieve pain and misery. Reveal yourself to me, Lord in whom I believe and hope. For You I would suffer and die on the Cross, here, on Calvary!" -"En Prière" by Stéphan Bordèse Good Friday worship is this evening at 7:00 pm as we commemorate Jesus' willingness to die on the cross for our sins so that we may have everlasting life.
“The movement in our relationship to God is always from God to us. Always. We can't, through our piety or goodness, move closer to God. God is always coming near to us. Most especially in the Eucharist and in the stranger.” ― Nadia Bolz-Weber, Pastrix: The Cranky, Beautiful Faith of a Sinner & Saint We invite you to commemorate the Last Supper, Jesus' humility in his washing of the disciples' feet, and to be reminded of Jesus' command to love one another (John 13:34) in our Maundy Thursday worship this evening at 7:00 pm.
God, our refuge and strength, we pray for our siblings in Christ affected by the devastating fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. We pray especially for rescue workers in harm's way, and for all who mourn. Strengthen them in body and spirit. Refresh them when weary; console them when anxious; comfort them in grief; and hearten them in discouragement. Send your Spirit to intercede for us when we do not have the words; through Christ our peace. Amen. (Adapted from ELW, p. 85) (Reposted from the ELCA)

Happy Wednesday!
In this past Sunday's gospel reading from John 12:1-8 in which Mary anoints Jesus' feet, we see Jesus' journey to the cross begin to unfold. In verse 8, a sometimes confusing and controversial verse, we learn from Pastor Chris that Jesus is actually referencing Deuteronomy 15 in which we hear the law of Moses to help the poor. Pastor Chris helps us to see how each of these passages and Mary's anointing of Jesus' feet while he is on the cross points to him being the servant king.
